The day after Memorial Day...
It is the day after Memorial day and if you are like me you spent the day yesterday thinking hard about the high cost of freedom, or war, or conflict. It really doesn't matter to me what you perspective is as long as you agree that we must always remember those who lost their lives due to war. Of course Yoga For Vets is all about offering yoga to those who served and returned alive. Alive is the key word because while those who returned from war should be happy they lived through the experience, a growing number of vets are coming back home and suffering. In fact some are suffering so much that they commit suicide. This reality actually inspires me. It inspires me to try harder to offer free yoga to vets because we know that yoga has helped pull vets back from the edge and improved many vets lives. Yoga aside, I'll try harder to reach out to those who served, to say thanks, to say welcome home and maybe become good friends with them. If you are nodding your head as you read this, I am glad. It means that you understand the bigger picture of being human. It is beyond just offering free yoga. It is making sure our combat vets who where lucky enough and skilled enough to survive combat come home to a grateful community. Yes, I rambled here a little bit but I am always told by my more media savvy friends to let some stuff go so that people will know more about me. Well, here it is. I will try to write more often in this blog so that you will get more insight into my ideas, thought and inspiration. Today, my inspiration is definitely coming from those who never returned.
